William Elliott Cotton

William Elliott Cotton, 50, of Mt. Sterling passed away Thursday morning, April 27, 2023, at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.  He was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, on August 27, 1972.  William was the beloved son of Gary and Mary Stewart Cotton.

William was a Montgomery County native, a member of Life Impact Church and a PEER support specialist in addiction counseling.  William had an outgoing personality and he enjoyed helping people, particularly those with substance abuse.  He was a devoted fan of University of Kentucky basketball and football. as well as the Cincinnati Bengals.  He liked to laugh and enjoyed traveling to the ocean but he especially loved being a daddy to his daughters.  William will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

William is survived by his loving mother, Mary Stewart Cotton of Mt. Sterling; devoted wife of six years, Mary Gibbs Cotton of Mt. Sterling; four cherished daughters, Makenzie Cotton of Alexandria, Jordynne Cotton of Alexandria, Ally Cotton of Alexandria and Becky Gibbs of Mt. Sterling; sisters, Rebecca Cooper (David) of Mt. Sterling and Jennifer Cotton Hammack of Jeffersonville; three nieces, three great nephews and one great niece.

William was preceded in death by his father, Gary Cotton.

A celebration of William's life will take place at 6:00PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Life Impact Church 11 North Queen Street Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.  Pastor Anthony Castle will be officiating.
