Wilma Fern Peyton McKinney departed this life and soared to heaven at the age of 87 on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Windsor Care Center. Born on December 23, 1938, in Morgan County, to the late Wesley and Carmen Osborne Peyton.

She moved to Montgomery County 58 years ago from Menifee County, where she established numerous relationships with people throughout the community. She was a hardworking woman who provided for her family and retired after a successful career with A.O. Smith and Summit Polymers. Her commitment to excellence and perseverance in the workplace reflected her determination and strength.

A faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Wilma embodied the spirit of service as a member of the Women's Missionary Union, the largest Protestant mission's organization for women in the world. A recognized prayer warrior, she shared her faith passionately and inspired many with her unwavering belief in the power of prayer.

An avid UK basketball fan, Wilma filled her home with the spirit of the game. She had a love for crocheting and knitting, often creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. Known for her delicious cooking and skillful candy making, she brought warmth to gatherings with her culinary talents. Additionally, Wilma enjoyed working on puzzles, finding delight in the challenge they presented, and spent countless hours tending to her flower gardens, nurturing the beauty of nature around her.

Her fondness for beach trips brought her immense joy, as she relished the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun. Wilma leaves behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and unwavering faith.

Wilma was survived by her children as she was a devoted mother to Rodney McKinney (Shelia), Kathy Lee (Bret), and Roger McKinney and Anthony McKinney; grandchildren, Travis McKinney (Leslie), Ben McKinney (Sally), Leslie Havens (Greg), Becky Johnson (Tyler), Whitney Lee, Tyler Lee (Mindy), Mackenzie Neal (Weston), Cassey Odle (April), and Tamara Shoemaker (Justin); 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Dimple Murphy and Nova Sommers; and numerous nieces and nephews, special church family and extended family and friends, all will carry forward her legacy of love and faith. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she brought joy and comfort to all who crossed her path.

In addition to her late parents, Wilma is preceded in death by her siblings, Vondal Peyton, Leta McGhee, Mary Peyton, and Gladys Trent.

A funeral service will be held in her honor at the First Church of God on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 12:
00PM. Visitation will take place prior to the service, 10:00AM to 12:00PM. Following the service, Wilma will be laid to rest at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Jim Skidmore will be officiating.
