Barbara Jean (Brown) Smith

Barbara Jean Brown Smith, 73, of Frenchburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday morning, November 6, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 15, 1949, in Menifee County, Kentucky, to the late Kenneth and Carmie Askins Brown.

Barbara was a Menifee County native, devoted Christian and cherished member of Tarr Ridge Church of God, she was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, traveling, and shopping. She loved the Christmas season and enjoyed baking and cooking large meals for others. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, as they held a huge place in her heart. Barbara will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five beautiful years; Phillip Smith; two beloved daughters; Sonya Adams (Jeff) of Frenchburg and Sherry Romello (Phil) of Greenville, South Carolina; five cherished grandchildren; Douglas Turpin (Pascale) of Greenville, South Carolina, Ryan Yarber of Jeffersonville, Tiffany Adams of Jeffersonville, Jeffrey Adams (Kaitlyn) of Wellington and Emma Adams of Georgetown; brother; Daniel Brown (Linda) of Frenchburg; three sisters; Patty Peck of Frenchburg, Linda Benson of Frenchburg and Debbie Benson (Brian) of Frenchburg; special sister-in-law; Brenda Carty of Frenchburg.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother; Harley Brown and sister; Karen Brown.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Visitation will be prior from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Both will be held at Tarr Ridge Church of God 5422 Tarr Ridge Road Frenchburg, Kentucky 40322. Committal will follow the service at Woodward Cemetery, Frenchburg. Pastor Dennis Flannery will be officiating.

Pallbearers: Daniel Brown, Von Peck, Casey Hurt, Ryan Yarber, Douglas Turpin and Kenny Hurt.
