Betty Jean Corey Spencer, 84, of Mt. Stering, Kentucky passed away peacefully early Monday morning, July 17, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born in Montgomery County on September 25, 1938 to the late Clay and Ada Pergram Corey.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, of the Christian faith and a wonderful homemaker. Betty was a great cook and enjoyed big dinners with her family. She loved taking care of her home and her yard as well as traveling and attending antique shows with her husband. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-six beautiful years, Woodrow Spencer, Jr.; son, Rick Spencer (Tracey) of Mt. Sterling; daughter, Vicki Skidmore of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Chris Reed (Jennifer), Blake Spencer (Shauna), Jessica Winters (John) and Laura Thacker (Cody); sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Williams (Larry) and Wanda Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by six brothers, Henry Corey, Robert Corey, Charles Corey, Russell Corey, Wendell Corey and George Corey; three sisters, Christine Corey, Alma McGuire and Mary Corey.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday July 20, 2023. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Both will be held at Gateway Christian Church. Interment will follow the funeral service at Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor Glenn Emery and Pastor Seth Lawson will be officiating.
Pallbearers: Chris Reed, Blake Spencer, Cody Thacker, John Winters, Laura Thacker and Jessica Winters.
