Obituary

David Gene Best, 55 of Paris, passed away peacefully March 11, 2022 at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home in Paris.  David was born July 19, 1966 in Carlisle, KY to Velora Rose (Spencer) Purcell and the late Carroll Gene “Cotton” Best.  David was a retired EMT and volunteer firefighter.  At the time of his retirement, he was a Captain with the Menifee County Volunteer Fire Department and an EMT with Powell County EMS.  Throughout his career he worked in Wolfe, Breathitt, Bath and Clark Counties.

In addition to his mother, David is survived by his step-mother, Betty Best of Lexington; his partner of 13 years, Gina Walsh  of Paris, his 3 children, Chelsie Best and John Best, both of Cynthiana, and Damien Withrow of Paris; his brothers, Jimmy Best and Brian Best both of Paris, Ronald (Jennifer) Best, Brian Bowman and Dennis Bowman all of Lexington and sisters Carolyn White and Jennnifer (Rodney) Saylor of Paris and Delores (David) Hager of Lexington as well as a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Carroll Gene Best, Jr.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
