Richard D. Russell II, 48, of Morehead, passed away early Saturday morning, July 1, 2023 at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead.  He was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on August 1, 1974 to Richard Russell and Diana Williams Russell Burton.

Rich was of the Christian faith, graduate of Montgomery County High School, class of 1992, a graduate of Morehead University and Midway University.  Rich served seven years in the Unites States Navy, he served aboard the USS America out of Norfolk, Virginia and spent his last two years aboard the La Sal stationed in Italy.  He was currently Human Resource Specialist at Blackburn Correctional Institute, Lexington.  Rich loved reading, looking at the stars with his sweet Lizzy Anne, traveling, playing video games with Sam and taking many pictures.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Rich is survived by his wife, Jaclyn Ball Russell of Morehead, his heart, his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Russell of Morehead; one son, Samuel Ball Russell of Morehead; father, Richard Russell of Mt. Sterling; mother, Diana Williams Russell Burton of Mt. Sterling; step-father, Ed Burton of Mt. Sterling; brother, Patrick Russell of Mt. Sterling; sister, Jaime Burton of Georgetown; niece Hadley Groff of Georgetown; mother-in-law, Debbie Ball of Morehead; sister-in-law, Jessica Ladipo of Lexington; uncle, Steve Williams of Mt. Sterling; aunts and uncles, Shelly and John Proctor of Carrolton, Kentucky, Alma and Howard Tackett of Indiana; special cousins Aleia Adkins, Misti Harrison and Mark Bush.

Rich was preceded in death by his grandparent, Ollie and Ruby Whitaker Williams, John and Marie Wilson Russell and Bessie and Raymond Burton; aunts, Debbie Williams Bush and Donna Penn.

Funeral service will be held at 8:00PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  Visitation will be held prior from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.  Both will be held at Queen Street Christian Fellowship, 10 North Queen Street Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.  Brother Bill Teegarden will be officiating.
